Every Day, These Giant Statues Tell A Tragic Story — And How They Do It Is Amazing

Statues that move on their own might sound a bit creepy, but these two moving statues in Batumi, Georgia, will break your heart.

The large-scale piece features a man and a woman made of metal slats. At first, the statues face each other. After a while, they begin moving closer and closer to one another. They continue moving forward until they have a brief moment of contact, but this concept of closeness is short lived, because they don’t stop when they meet. Instead, they continue on their paths until they move right through each other.

The statues, designed and built by Tamara Studio in 2007, represent the main characters in one of the region’s most celebrated love stories.

The tale, Ali and Nino, tells the story of Ali, a Muslim boy, and Nino, a Georgian princess. When they meet, the two immediately fall in love, but they’re eventually torn apart by Soviet forces.

The sad procession of these two immense figures represents the trajectory of Ali and Nino’s impossible love. Although their cultures clash, they come together for a brief union…but it all ends when outside forces get in the way.

The novel was written by an author who used the pen name Kurban Said. To this day, no one knows the author’s true identity.

The novel also explores the cultural differences of East and West.

These statues begin moving every evening, and the whole process takes about three minutes.

Watch the full procession in the video below:

The tale of Ali and Nino is a powerful story not only of love, but of the clash between radically different cultures. If you’re interested in learning more about the story, you can check out the book, which has been translated into more than 30 languages.

No, Those Aren’t 2 Women In This Photo. You Have To Look Closer To Understand. Amazing!

As kids, our parents were our role models and the family was our trusted nucleus of people among whom we grew up and discovered the world. We felt as equals among equals.

But when one gets older, the desire to live your own life and make your own decisions comes along. It becomes more and more important to distinguish yourself from your mother or father. Even if you love them. One wants their own personality. But despite all attempts to the contrary, one remains connected to their family forever.

That is what the photographer, Ulric Collette, wanted to highlight with these photos. His portraits blend the faces of two family members and they are more similar than you might expect.

These Look Like Abstract Paintings, But Take A Closer Look And Be Blown Away

Canvas has been used in painting and art-making for years. Typically, artists paint onto it, and the canvas usually just serves as the backdrop. But this creative duo has found a new way to use canvas where it becomes the art itself — and it’s pretty amazing.

The artist team refers to themselves as Stallman. Stephen Stum and Jason Hallman, partners in both life and artwork, create the swirling, abstract pieces you see here. They use canvas and paint…but not at all in a way you’d expect.

Stallman takes strips of painted canvas and balances it on its edge, creating looping, swirling scrollwork that becomes an abstract image.

1

By using different colors, the canvas surfaces can reflect off one another, creating a shimmering effect that changes depending on the angle it’s viewed from.

2

The duo works together on each piece, melding their individual creativities into single images.

3

“Each length of painted canvas is bonded to itself and to the background creating a rigid structure within the frame,” the pair explains.

Each piece is created using considerable care and patience, with careful attention paid to the flow of the canvas and the gradient of the colors.

4

“The hue of the painted canvas reflects on the background creating a spectrum of color. By using reflecting light, pigment, and structure, they can multiply the hues and tones within each sculpture.”

And the results are stunning:

5

These pieces are part of a growing collection called Canvas on Edge, and Hallman and Stum take their inspiration from the world around them…

6

…from organic forms to oceanscapes. Their artwork falls somewhere between painting and sculpture.

When creating their work, Hallman and Stum consider themselves to be two halves of the same brain, working together and pooling their individual abilities to make something that showcases the best of both of them.

7

8

“Our union of dynamic minds dissolves the boundaries of what is possible turning the ordinary into extraordinary,” they explain.

The pair doesn’t show any signs of slowing their creative output, and we’re glad about that. You can see much more of Stallman’s work, including other styles that merge painting and sculpture, on their website, as well as on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

After You See The Kind Of House You Can Make From Shipping Containers, You’ll Want One Too

Pre-fab housing isn’t what it used to be. The trendy pre-fab shell of choice at the moment is the humble shipping container. Their low cost and versatility makes them ideal for up-cycling into posh spaces. The results can be downright startling. Check out this shipping container house built in the wilds of Quebec by Les Collections Dubreuil.

Four containers make up the base of the house.

1

Two get stacked across the bottom two.

2

Resting on the foundation and with holes cut, the house starts to take shape.

3

With the windows installed, it’s starting to look like a real house.

4

Wow! You’d never know there were four brown metal containers underneath.

5

In this case, the exterior wood is hemlock, but they can use other materials.

6

There’s an old garage door providing access to the roof and balcony.

7

The balcony opens off the master bedroom, which has a large walk-in closet.

8

The master bedroom also has an integrated bathroom.

9

The stairwell to the main level is made from old planks and boards.

10

Who wouldn’t want a cool spiral staircase?

11

The second bathroom almost looks too cozy to be a bathroom.

12

The windows at the front let in tons of natural light.

13

The second bedroom has a more intimate feel.

14

The container has concrete floors throughout with radiant heating within.

15

The galley kitchen has everything a modern home needs.

16

The dining area gets some natural light as well and has plenty of room for entertaining.

17

There’s more room in the basement, as well as a classy bare-brick wall.

18

Comfy, inviting spaces are everywhere in this place.

19

Kicking back in front of the entertainment center, you’d never know that room had crossed the ocean.

The Visually Stunning Luna Lamp Brings The Moon Right Into Your Bedroom

if you haven’t already seen It’s a Wonderful Life by now, you really should. “You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down.” It doesn’t get any more romantic than that fellas. Take. Note. We know it’s physically impossible to lasso the moon – but hey, it doesn’t mean you can’t own your very own moon.

1

Meet “Luna” everyone. Lit with long-lasting halogen bulbs, she’s a non-toxic latex and fiberglass moon that’s available for pre-order in 2016. Your own personal moon can come in various sizes from XXS (3.2 inches) to XXL (23.6in). The Luna lamp is guaranteed to add character and romance to any space it fills, and not to mention, much like the cloud lamp… it’s a great conversation piece. Luna received over 225K in funding thanks to their Indiegogo campaign, and have raised enough to start pre-orders.

2

Every Luna comes with a cord, and a device to adjust luminosity

This Incredible DIY Cloud Lamp Is Completely Awesome, And So Simple To Make

Here’s a fun little project that’s actually pretty unique, and will add some flare to your room thanks in part to TiffyQuake. Now, you might have seen the article we featured here a few months ago about the cloud lamp that creates an incredible thunderstorm inside your bedroom, but as you can imagine it’s pretty expensive…. roughly $3,000. Which is probably something most people wouldn’t be able to splurge on… so we found this alternative.

You can always vary it up if you want something different, but here’s what you’ll need: Cotton batting / Paper lanterns / Wooden dowel / Fishing line or string / Hot glue gun / Battery-powered LED lights / Screw hook

Different sizes of paper lanterns

1

Hot glue gun with sticks

2

Set of LED curtain lights

3

Clear string or fishing line

4

Cotton batting

5

Use the glue gun to apply the hot glue on the paper lantern… then start attaching the cotton

6

Using your wooden dowel, tie the string or fishing line around it

7

Hook one end to a hook in the ceiling / Do the same with the other end

8

Tie each ball individually and adjust the length as needed

9

Once you get your desired height, just keep adding your paper lanterns

10

11

Next, pull your LED lights through the base of the cloud

12

Plug it in and…….

WaaLa!

She Draws Eyebrows Under Her Eyes. But When She’s Done? My Jaw Dropped!

This is by far one of the most inventive makeup tricks I have ever seen! This demonstration for Halloween is simply mesmerizing. The woman is so creative in conceiving of this idea, and is clearly very artistic. Whether this comes out as well as her endeavor, it is worth putting the time and effort into following her steps, if you would like to become something truly unique this Halloween.

Watch as she doubles the features of her face by using makeup to create another set of eyes on her cheek, an extra nose higher up on the bridge of her actual nose, and a second mouth on her chin. She even goes so far as to glue on false eyelashes to complete the “cheek eyes”!

The result is both “trippy” and, almost dizzying! The transformation is like nothing I have ever seen before. She and her friend take it on the road during daylight hours, to get people’s reactions. People were flipping out! You can only imagine how cool the reaction will be on Halloween. Let us know if you try this out and whether you get the awesome results that you are about to watch on this video.

Please SHARE this incredible transformation with your friends and family
